Samsung unveils One UI for smartwatches

At the MWC 2021 (Mobile World Congress) exhibition, Samsung Electronics announced for the first time the new One UI Watch, created in cooperation with Google.

Earlier, at the Google I / O 2021 developer conference, Google announced that Samsung would release watches on the Wear OS smartwatch platform, abandoning the branded Tizen. Now Samsung has introduced a new interface.

Samsung has also confirmed that the next version of the Galaxy Watch will be the first device to support the One UI Watch platform and shell with Google. A detailed presentation will take place at the Galaxy Unpacked event this summer.

According to the Korean manufacturer, the new platform will provide increased productivity, seamless interaction between wearable devices and mobile gadgets on Android, as well as access to a variety of applications from the Google Play store.

For example, as soon as compatible applications are installed on the smartphone, they will be downloaded to the wearable device – if the “Watch” service on the smartphone indicates the time in certain cities, the same data will be shown on the Galaxy Watch, and by blocking calls and messages on the watch, the user will disable them on the smartphone as well.

For developers, Samsung promises an improved tool for creating new watch faces.
