Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 + camera details revealed

GalaxyClub.nl has released exclusive information that the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 + smartphones will be equipped with a telephoto lens with a 10MP image sensor, which will provide 3x optical zoom, rather than the hybrid zoom of the Galaxy S20 and S21 era.

The source adds the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 + models will have a 50MP main camera. The company is likely to keep a 12MP ultra-wide-angle module in the kit. The biggest mystery so far is related to the front-facing cameras. Contrary to previous rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series should have a regular in-screen camera rather than a sub-screen camera. For now, the under-screen camera technology should remain exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold lineup.

Earlier it was reported that the S22 Galaxy S22 + will have a 4500 mAh battery, but it is not yet known how powerful the charging will be. Most smartphones will be based on the Snapdragon 898 SoC, but some models will receive the Exynos 220.

Last week, the same source said that the new flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will receive the same telephoto lenses as installed in the Galaxy S21 Ultra. One of the two lenses will be periscope and offer 10x optical zoom. Both telephoto lenses will again get 10MP image sensors, as was the case with the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The Galaxy S22 lineup is expected to be released early next year.
