Electronic Arts buys game developer Playdemic for $1.4 billion

Electronic Arts (EA), AT&T and Warner Media have announced a deal that will bring EA the new owner of Playdemic, a mobile gaming studio. The current owner will receive $ 1.4 billion.

Playdemic is a mobile game developer founded in 2010 and made famous by the Golf Clash game. This game is available on iOS, Android and Facebook and allows players to compete against each other around the world in real time. It has been downloaded over 80 million times to date.

The acquisition is part of EA’s mobile growth strategy. The transaction will be completed upon receipt of regulatory approvals and other conditions common in such cases.
